Meet Dr. Jewel Datri

From the team at Datri MD, Stone Oak

In direct primary care, you don't just pick a plan — you pick a doctor. So before you meet her in person, we want you to know a little about the physician behind Datri MD.

Dr. Jewel Datri, MD, MPH, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who cares for adults in Stone Oak and across San Antonio. Her focus is the kind of care that takes time: managing chronic conditions, sorting out medications, and planning for long-term health.

Her training

Dr. Datri's path into medicine started in Louisiana.

  • Louisiana State University: BS in Biochemistry, summa cum laude, with minors in anthropology and psychology (2017).
  • LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans: Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology (2021). She received the Harry Emerson Dascomb, MD Award for excellence in infectious diseases.
  • Tulane University: Internal medicine residency (2021–2024), completed with Distinction in Primary Care. During residency she was named a VA Health Professions Outstanding Trainee at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System.
  • Board certification: American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), Internal Medicine. She is also credentialed as an HIV Specialist (AAHIVS) by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Her public health training shapes how she practices. She looks at the whole person — habits, home, and family history — not just the symptom in front of her.

Why an internist?

Many direct primary care practices are led by family medicine physicians, who care for patients of every age, from newborns to grandparents. Dr. Datri is different: she's an internist.

Internal medicine physicians train only in adult medicine. Their training goes deep on complex and chronic conditions, like diabetes, heart disease, and infections, and on caring for patients who see several specialists or take many medications. That makes Datri MD a strong fit for adults who want a primary care doctor with that depth.

Caring for San Antonio

After residency, Dr. Datri moved to San Antonio and spent two years (2024–2026) practicing primary care at a Federally Qualified Health Center. She cared for patients with complex needs, often managing several conditions and long medication lists at once.

That work showed her how much good primary care matters — and how hard it is to give when every visit is squeezed into a short slot.

Why she opened Datri MD

Dr. Datri opened Datri MD in Stone Oak to give patients the time their care deserves. As a direct primary care practice, we don't bill insurance, so she can keep a smaller panel and spend real time with each person.

Here's what that looks like day to day:

  • Longer, unhurried visits to cover all your concerns, not just one.
  • Direct access to Dr. Datri when questions come up between visits.
  • Timely, flexible scheduling so you aren't waiting weeks.
  • A focus on adults with complex needs, including chronic conditions, multiple medications, and healthy aging.

She also continues to build her skills. In 2026 she completed additional training in wound care (The Wound Care Course) and hyperbaric medicine (UHMS-designated Hyperbaric Medicine Team Training) through International ATMO.

Here's what people usually ask before they call:

Why $150 a month instead of a copay? You see the same physician every time: Dr. Datri, a board-certified internist. Visits are longer, you can call or text her directly, and in-office ultrasound, ECG, spirometry, and urinalysis are included.

Money is tight. Can I make this work? Many members pair membership with a lower-cost or high-deductible plan, and HSA funds can often pay the fee. Call us and we'll talk through your situation honestly, even if that means telling you it's not the right fit.

Do I still need insurance? Yes. Keep it for hospital stays, specialists, and emergencies. We handle your everyday care.

Can I reach Dr. Datri after hours? Yes. Call or text her directly, and she'll get back to you as soon as she can. For emergencies, call 911.
